A co-production with Kuressaare´s City Theatre for the whole family.

Morten Viks is playing with his toy ship by a stream. The crew is formed of various insects. A wizard resembling a cockroach appears as if from nowhere, transforms himself into a miniature figure and scampers on the ship. Doing that, he leaves his bottle with a magic drink lying on the shore. Morten is curious and decides to try this strangely bubbling drink. Suddenly he becomes very small and he steps on the ship... What follows is an adventurous story where Morten must selflessly rescue his ship from disasters.

Morten on the Ship of Fools” is a whole family production. It is based on Kaspar Jancis’ children’s book “Adventure on Salamander”, published in spring 2010. In this production the role of spoken word is minimal and emphasis is on uniting the performative media of puppetry, circus, magic and animation.

In August 2011 the production travels on sailer Runbjarn on the Baltic Sea taking performances to Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Mariehamn and European Capitals of Culture – Turku and Tallinn.

The production is a collaboration between VAT Theatre and Kuressaare City Theatre. It is supported by European Capital of Culture 2011 Tallinn, Nordic Council of Ministers and Estonian Cultural Capital.
