COSMIC MARIGOLDS ------------

Mutations of the soul

The Pulitzer-winning play by Paul Zindel titled The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (1964) tells a story of a single mother and her two teenage daughters. Beatrice, who has been wronged by the world and is clutching to illusions attempts to shield her young daughters from the cruel and unfair world. But how to find the strength to be a human when the cold rays of bitterness have reached your heart and frozen it solid?

The figurative link to connect Paul Zindel and the director Katariina Unt is another American writer Tennessee Williams. Zindel has named Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie as one of his sources of inspiration. The same play was directed by Unt in 2015 in VAT Theatre. Katariina Unt is a freelance actress and drama professor.

Premiere: September 3, 2019 in National Library Tower Hall

The performance is in one act and runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes

NB! Latecomers are not allowed to enter and the ticket money will not be refunded!
