KARIN AND PEARU

Anton Hansen Tammsaare’s characters Karin and Pearu from „Truth and Justice“ don’t seem to have anything in common at first glance. In reality, however, they are soul mates in their own way. Neither of them really fits into their everyday environment, both are slightly childlike and therefore not taken seriously by others. They are stubborn and unpredictable. They desperately desire to find something new and never want to settle with what already exists. They want to play, to enjoy themselves instead of living hardworking and tranquil lives while eternally waiting for love to come to their way. They want everything and they want it now. Their love is so all-embracing that it burns their soul or makes them find a tragic end.

Tammsaare never allowes Karin and Pearu to meet. We give them this opportunity.
